Wabi-sabi --- Fu-eki (immutability) ---

I have been a potter for over 50 years. For 35 years, I was taught the Zen philosophy of wabi-sabi by the venerable Tachibana Daikyu Roshi.

I have been captivated and guided by the profound world of wabi-sabi.

While never forgetting this philosophy, the Zen teachings state that incorporating new changes, that is, the transience of constantly seeking new flavors and repeating changes, is the essence of fu-eki (immutability).

I wish that my pottery, which embodies fu-eki, will continue to exude beauty even after dozens or hundreds of years, and with that hope, I continue to create.
